How do you clean grime gathered in grooves of floor titles?

My title has many grooves within and thru time grime has gathered. A mop or sweeper does not get it out. The only way I have been able to clean is with a brush on my hands and knees which is a very tedious way since title is throughout the house.

You can use a deck brush that will give you a similar effect to scrubbing on hands and knees, but won't be quite as thorough. You would still need to wipe up the scrubbing water as you go so that the dirt doesn't settle back in the grooves. Once you get it really, really clean, you could try using a grout sealant, though that doesn't address the grooves in the tiles themselves.

Vacuuming regularly will help some, but if the grooves are from scratches (which happens), the tile will probably need to be replaced eventually.

  • My suggestion would be to invest in a quality steamer. They work really well and will save your knees, back and scrubbing elbow! Then it will be a breeze to clean the floors in no time at all.
