How to remove bath tub caulk?

The caulk around my tub is disgusting. I've tried razor cutters, blow dryer and screw driver. It's a metal tub, in a mobile home, with a plastic(y) crinkle wall cover. I'm concerned about using a solvent. Help!

I have used a butter knife and it works great hold with your thumb then lift the edge of caulk and it should lift up and pull it will come off in pieces.
Joan,. Start with getting hold of a piece of caulk, and pull it, might come off in pieces. When you recaulk fill the tub up 3/4 of the way. This will bring the tub down, and your caulk will not crack from the weight, when you fill the tub to take a bath. Aloha!
