Hard water and iron stains on the inside of the toilet bowl can be scrubbed clean with a pumice stone, (and rubber gloves). The pumice stone does not damage the porcelain bowl.

Like Carole said, for tough stains, a pumice stone and some elbow grease work wonders.

Flush the toilet and then pour a quarter cup of Borax into it. Use your toilet brush to swish it around. Next, add one to two cups of vinegar and let the mixture sit for 30 minutes. You should be able to scrub the stains away!
