Landlord replaced my shiny kitchen flooring with matte flooring with NO shine whatsoever. Can I get suggestions how to bring a shine onto my NEW dull matte floor?

Floor wax will give it some shine.

    HI Alanna,

If it were me, I'd think carefully about waxing a floor. The reason I wrote that is because the wax can build up and then it starts looking very dirty and dreary so it needs to be removed. I remember SO many times I had to struggle to remove all of the built-up wax on my floor, so when I finally remodeled my own kitchen, I decided NO WAY would I have anything that needed wax. I decided to use kitchen carpet. Years later that carpet was removed and I went back to tile floors. The instructions that came with tile said not to wax it, but, *ahem* a member of my family ignored that and waxed the floor. Within months it looked horrid from build-up. Yes, there are products that are supposed to help removing a build-up but none of them ever worked well for me. I had to use ammonia. :*( One day we had to replace a tile on that new floor. The color of the new tile was A LOT lighter than the waxed floor around it. Yuck! We ended up replacing that floor again and this time it was agreed NO WAX. LOL I hope you enjoyed my little story and do 2 things. First, ask the landlord for the directions for cleaning the new floor. Some do say not to wax them. Second, think about if the shine is worth the extra work removing the wax build-up. Only you can decide that. Wishing you the best!

A friend of mine put polyurethane on her peal and stick floor squares and they shined all the time. Try one small spot first where it's not noticeable. Always let completely dry. 24 hours at least.

I would be very careful as yes you can get build up and some of the newer flooring are not conducive to waxes. If you can get the care instructions for the new flooring you can check this out. Also, there is an acrylic coating made by Johnson called Future that may work, but again remove the old before putting more on, Also check to see if you can use mop and glo

Hi ! Yes !!! Get a product called quick shine made by Halloway House. It works like a mop and glow product , but is a floor protector / sealer . You can use up to 7 coats , that would give your floors a bowling alley type finish. I use 2 coats on my wood floors and they shine nicely. You only need to do this once a year ( maybe twice if you have kids & pets and heavy traffic ) the rest of the year just wash the floor like you normally would . Just check to get the right one for your floor type ! Quick shine comes in a few varieties , for different surfaces. I think one might be for use in all floor types ! I have been using this for years !!!! It is a great product !!!
