  • Here's a link with several ideas, Linda. I'm not sure if they'll work since I've seen some very determined squirrels. Good luck!

I think the best solution is to hang is on a tall pole. Make sure the pole is not placed near trees or anything they can jump from.

    Hello Linda,

If your bird feeders is on a pole or shepherd hook there is a solution.

Make a baffle— If you are using a pole feeder or shepards hook. I purchased one 30 years ago and made a second one with hardware store supplies for an additional rear yard birdfeeder last year. They work very well!

if you give the squirrels their own feeder, they won't bother the bird feeder, lots of them available...as long as there is food outside, some critter WILL figure out how to get it..js

Perhaps bitter apple spray applied to seed would work. Generally, seed doused with cayenne pepper spray will repel squirrels, but not affect birds.

Have you tried greasing the feeder pole with axle grease? If feeder is too close to house or trees, it is too easy for squirrels to access. Have you placed baffles at top and 4' up from base of feeder?

The squirrels are hungry too! They love the sunflower whistle and peanuts. Give them some corn and a feeder.🙀
