In many places you need a permit, especially if it is going to install a hot tub. You need to contact your local authorities to see what applies to you before deciding how to build. But if that checks out you will need to start by making a perfectly level cement slab to build on. Is the deck going to be elevated? Will you place the hot tub on top of the deck or will it be recessed in the deck to it is level with the deck itself?

Hi Sherri, Here's a how to video that may help: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=flWbt0mHQeU
Good luck!
Hi Sherri Ann,
Here's a tutorial showing how to create a deck pad for a hot tub. You'll have to add to the space for more deck area but this shows how much support a hot tub will need. The water in the hot tub will make the unit very heat so you'll really need that extra support.
As Mogie wrote, do remember to check local codes and get any permits that you need. Then decide on the size and use supports as described in the tutorial as you base for the hot tub. Wishing you the best.

The video that Suzette gave you is much better that the first one. The first website didn't even use footings. The one Suzette gave you had small footing but they were to far below grade and they put the wood directly on the cement. You should really have brackets like this video shows to attach the posts to the frame of the deck.
