How do I raise the height of my roof and redo my patio?

I would like to raise the roof height when i redo my patio cover.I don't know where to begin . . .Please help!

Some pictures and more info would help. How high do you want to raise the roof? What materials do you want to use? How do you plan on supporting this higher roof? What will it be attached to? What kind of climate do you live in (do you get snow, high winds, etc?

We had this done across the back of our cape cod home. It involved construction jacks to lift the old roof and several people ready to add supports as soon as the jacks raised the roof high enough. Raising a roof is a major construction change to your home. We decided to leave it in the hands of an insured professional in case something went wrong. I'd suggest that you do the same.
