How can I fill missing pieces on my hardwood floor?

I have wooden floors in the living room and bedroom, what can I use to fill the wood piece that are missing from the floor? Can I use a filler or ?

A photo would help. Are there pieces missing or are there boards that are missing?
If there are boards missing, you could take some out that are under furniture. We did this in our kitchen when they removed one of the pantry walls. They took a piece of the wood floor that is under our refrigerator and put it where they removed the wall. Or, you can find a contractor that can match it very closely.
