I agree with Kelli. Your price can range between $160 and $9600. 'Leak in a Basement' can cause by any Number or Variety of Problems.

Where is the leak? How bad? Very vague question. Need more information. A photo would help.

Try looking on utube. Put in search bar. This is a serious problem. Down the road it could lead to wall colapse.

  • I would definitely call a professional, could be hiding a bigger problem that could impact your foundation greatly in the future.

    Hi, Ruth,

If this basement wall is below ground level, you may need to divert water at ground level, away from your foundation. It could be from downspouts too close to your home's foundation (water should be discharging at least 10' from your home, and preferably toward your street).

Your gutters may be leaking excessively, or they are full of leaves, or the gutters are insufficiently sized for the rains you recive and are improperly sloped to rapidly carry water to downspouts. If the water is coming from sloping ground above you, you'll need a French drain installed from this point ( or even inside your home to a sump pump) through your yard, to discharge close to your front street.

In the interim, you'll need to immediately contact someone who has done this work for some time, with great references and full insurance coverage. Please do not wait, because the pressure of the water against your wall could result in it collapsing, causing extensive and very expensive repairs. If your wall is leaking, you've most likely had water building up behind the wall for some time.
