I feel your pain. my living room has no over head lighting. pole lamps have worked for me. they usually are clipped to a tension rod that goes floor to ceiling. check wally world, a while back I got pole style lights with a heavy base. the top light bounces light to the ceiling. there is aa side light on the pole lower down for reading.

Puck lights at Lowe's or Home Depot. They run by batteries. Some have a remote so when you come into the room you can remote them on.

There are lots of lighting solutions out there.

    Try Amazon.com.

  • Table lamps or floor lamps are also still a great option.

  • My bedrooms don't have ceiling lights either. Lamps work great. Place them by the doorway, so you can turn on the light when entering a room. There are also clip on lights or even plug in lights if you really want ceiling lights.

    I suggest using floor lamps.

Plug-in swag lamps on a chain, hung from a sturdy hook (one tiny hole needed; hook is not removed, but left in place when you move out) are another option.
