if it is real wood you may not want to paint the floors it will be hard to remove later on - could you decorate with rugs instead?

For me, I would take this chance to paint the whole floor glossy black, then buy an area rug in a bright pink, black and white. But if the boards are still unpainted, I would sand, stain and seal the floor in a natural color.
Yes. Pink black and white might not suit you a few years from now.
Staining the floor gray would be a neutral alternative.
I agree with the others, that painting the floor isn't a good idea. You could sand, stain a natural color (I'd stay away from grey, it's been over done already) and then seal it with bona commercial grade water based urethane (several coats).
