The least expensive, easiest thing you can do is buy huge plastic garbage cans at the Dollar Store. Get Rustoleum spray paint for plastic after you drill some large drainage holes at the bottom.
The way you can save on buying soil and the weight is to buy something else that's shorter than the garbage cans. Place that inside (upside down if necessary) and you can take up more space inside to reach the top of that inside container by putting empty plastic bottles filled with water in the bottom around the sides.
Then, you can purchase a large plant potted in a nursery pot (cheap plastic) and merely insert it, pot and all, into the garbage can. Or, you can continue to fill the pot almost to the top (leave room for the new plant!), put the plant itself into the soil and top it off.
You can put together a huge container like this for probably under $5 and reuse plastic trash bottles. The cost of the plant is then up to you! 😎👍💐

Not sure what you mean by make? Materials can vary I like to build mine. If they're for outdoors you may like this project.
