How can I use cable wire to suspend a desk?

Want to make a floating desk with cable wire and need it to fold down for easy storage. What do I attach the cable to?

If there’s an attic, you’ll be able to easily find them.
If it’s an old house, the ceiling joists may be only 2x4’s and won’t hold the desk without multiple mounting points and multiple joists.
Will your cable hold the desk and the desk contents and one’s forearms leanjng in it?
I’d look at cable fastening hardware that is rated for at least 500 lbs because you’ll have both a dead load & a live load.
