How do I best caulk around a bath tub?

The caulk I have been using around my bath tub and specifically under the soap holder is not staying. I am using DAP Kwik Seal Plus premium caulk specifically made for bathroom and kitchens. I am applying with a clean (even cleaning with alcohol first), dry surface. What else can I try other than a new tub surround?

I remove the old caulk. then I buy small tubes and put a line of caulk in the cracks, then wrap a rag around my finger and remove the excess. They sell tools to do it but I still end up using the rags lol
