To be as specific as possible and what flowers do well in your summer heat, I would check with your local nursery. As an alternative, take a drive around your neighborhood and see what others are growing.
Hi Louise. If you Google your particular area and find out what gardening zone it is, you can find plants listed that thrive in that zone. I also think that the above comment is excellent. The local nurseries usually carry plants that do well in their respective locales. Hope that helps!
Hello! I am in Charleston! Your best bet is to walk your neighborhood and see what grows well for your neighbors. What grows in full sun will be very different from shaded areas. Tons of flowers grow well here!
Definitely go to a local nursery (not one that is part of a big-box store or national chain). They are so knowledgeable and can help with your soil and light conditions too.
Zinnias and sunflowers is a great place to begin.
