How can I paint my stained carpet?

This was a bedroom but has now turned into the Gkids playroom. (and junk catcher). The carpet is stained in places and just looks bad. Anyone have an idea how to easily paint it or anything else I can do with it as there is not an option to replace it at the moment.

I am not sure how bad your stains are. Have you tried using a carpet cleaner and pretreating the stains? You could also cover the carpet with a large area rug. Much less expensive than purchasing new carpet.

I agree with using area rugs. If it is used as a playroom, it will get more stains and area rugs can cover a multitude of evils.

I wouldn't paint it. I'd get a big throw rug and throw it over the bad areas. That's what we've done in our basement until I can pony up the cash and tiny to replace it with vinyl plank flooring!

try cleaning it first, the best carpet cleaner I found is: in one gallon container put in 1 cup hydrogen peroxide, 1/8 cup of Dawn dish soap,1 TBSP. Oxiclean, 1/2 cup of Fabric softener, (optional, but it smells good and makes carpet soft) add water to fill gallon container and then put 1 cup in your carpet cleaner,( I rented mine.) and clean the carpet, it really get rid of all spots that I have encountered, like kids paints, food stains, coffee spills etc. try it

no, dawn does not make it foamy, in the gallon mixture of all ingredients add water slowly to the gallon, then add 1 cup to the rented carpet cleaner that has the mixture of water to the "fill" container, the dirt will extract in the other tank of carpet cleaner. I have always had good luck with this. I have 6 grandchildren, it really works.

Depending on what the stains are an OxyClean solution may get them out. It worked well for me on carpet. Do test first in an inconspicuous spot. Because it is an oxygen bleach, not a chlorine bleach it is safe for colored materials but I saw a recent post about it leaving stains on a shirt so testing makes extra sense. Otherwise, I agree a large rug on top of the carpet is the answer.

hi ! i found the best carpet cleaner ever ! it is called Folex , i found it at home depot for about $6 for a large spray bottle. This stuff gets out ink, wine , rust , dried paint !

It can be used as a spot cleaner or in a carpet cleaning machine.i would do the spot cleaning first , then the whole carpet using a machine ( these can be rented at supermarkets ) i paid a service to come and clean my carpets in my new house , they did a good job , a few tiny stains were left. a year and a half later , i used folex in a carpet cleaning machine , it came out better than the service ! and for a fraction of the cost !!!

I would try one of the cleaning solutions listed above and then add area rugs. I love area rugs anyways because they add color to the room and can completely change the vibe of the room. You should look on local garage sale sites because sometime people give them away for free or very cheap.

I would purchase a cheap area rug to put on top of carpet. Painting is not really advised and will look streaky and ugly.
