Hi there, I believe that Ikea used to carry storage cubes with doors. Something like that may fit above your cabinets and go with the current decor. Or you could check out re-stores to see if they have smaller sized kitchen cabinets that could be painted or refinished to match your current kitchen and place them on top....just a thought.

Morgan's link is awesome! However, if you want something less permanent you can measure the area and purchase several nice looking baskets and store items in them above your current cabinets. Less expensive. But the cabinet extension suggested turned out beautiful.
