I have a small bench and on one leg, its loose, the screws are not tight anymore, the other 3 legs are OK, how can I tighten leg, since the wood holding the screw won't hold the screws anymore, I bought wood glue, would that help?

Hi Belinda, would it be possible to use a larger around screw?

If you remove your problem screw now, fill the hole entirely with wood filler and then insert the screw back in before the wood filler dries that might just hold too as long as you wait a good 24 hours to make sure the wood filler has a change to really set up.

Thank you responding to my problem bench, I will buy some wood filler and will give it a go.

I have glued toothpicks in the hole where a screw has pulled out....when glue is dry around the toothpicks, insert screw.

Fill the screw holes with a piece of wood, match stick, toothpicks with wood glue. Let it dry. Then screw the leg in.

    Hell Belinda,

It might I have purched $3 wonky loose thrift store chairs and they were easily fixed with super glue and artificial gel nail powder in the attachment to the seat joint to leg meeting point. It was the easiest repair ever.

Perhaps wood glue and sand or sawdust might possibly accomplish the same thing?
