What perennials do best to mantain it's shape? What materials are needed?

    Hi Gale, the choice of plants you use will really depend on the state and zone that you live in. Small ever green bushes might be nice around the border.

    Hard scaping can define the bed. I would use a low growing plant to keep from overwhelming the bed.

    Busy some of the black lawn edging. It's pliable and can be shaped. It's not that easy to work with, but if you let it warm in the sun, it becomes a lot more flexible. Use duct tape to hold it together while you tap it into the ground. You can paint it with vinyl spray paint, too.

    Thank you for your comments. I live in West Virginia up on a hill. I think a heart shaped garden would look very nice. I plan on planting a weeping cherry tree in the middle. Thanks guys 💙
