Soak them in a lukewarm Oxyclean bath. Every now and then take them out and scrub with Spray-n-Wash and salt. Put them back in the Oxyclean bath and add warm water again. Keep doing this until the stains get better or are completely gone.

  • When you wash them in the washer, they need to be pre-treated with a degreaser first.

If they are white then I always add a little bleach to the regular wash.

I would try a mixture of powder bleach and ammonia. Works great for antiperspirant stains too!

I dissolve a dishwashing tablet in very warm water and soak the item overnight. Most stains will be gone by morning. Some cannot be corrected.

My Mother always used Iron Out. Of course, this can only be used on white fabric but it works like magic.

Dawn is great for oil stains... make a warm dawn solution with Oxyclean and soak overnight. Borax is also good for a lot of stains. Could also try rubbing the stain with a Fels Naptha bar as it is great on oil stains. I would not dry items in the dryer until the stain is taken care of since the dryer sets the stains in. My mother used to lay white items on the grass to dry so the chlorine in the grass would draw out the stains.

Have you tried a bluing solution? It's in the laundry area of the grocery store.

I was so frustrated I decided to put a dishwashing tablet in a large pot boiled it till the tablet dissolved, and mixed the water. Then I actually boiled the pillowcases for about 20 minutes. Let it cool a bit and washed. You would not believe the gunk that came out...

Try putting them in the washing machine, two at a time on either side of the agitator (top loader) to maintain balance. Then follow the directions on the pillow, if you did not remove the tag.

FYI... I bought really expensive (to me) pillows at the same time I bought a new mattress. I made the investment in a "FIBERLINKS" waterproof mattress cover and 2 waterproof pillowcases and the INVESTMENT has paid off.... my pillows are as clean as the day I bought them... as is the mattress, these protectors "breathe" but are waterproof too... and are not hot to lay on and do not "crinkle" like the plastic and rubber ones. They are well worth the cost.

  • I purchase washable pillows and use Epsom salt in the wash with a vinegar rinse. For my feather pillows, I have double pillow covers, plus pillowcases as they take a bit more work to wash and fluff. My girlfriend swears by soaking the item in denture tablets. My mother would soak whites in rubbing alcohol, then wash.

Make a paste of baking soda and water. Make enough to cover the stains on each pillow. Rub it in lightly with a sponge, and let it sit for 4 hrs. Wash with some bleach and laundry detergent, and put hydrogen peroxide in the rinse cycle. If they still have some residue, spray with stain remover and let it sit, then wash again. I use Spray n Wash, I think it's the best for stains. Don't dry until the stains are gone, or the best that they can get. Good Luck!

I spray my bed pillows with peroxide mixed with a little alcohol and water.

  • Wash them, two at a time, with chlorine or if you don't like chlorine, borax.

Five easily obtained products that work well on sweat and makeup stains are hydrogen peroxide, lemon juice, white vinegar, ammonia, and baking soda. Simply mix one of these products with water and soak the stain for about 30 minutes. Before the solution dries, wash the pillowcase in cool water with regular detergent.

I only use bleach and wash them in hot warm water. Then I run with vinegar and lemon soda after that. They always look fresh again.

Hope it helps... Chloe's recipe is great as well. Bushra

Rub a crushed aspirin mixed with water on the stain. Let dry then launder.
