It is not hard to do with chalk paint after it has been wiped down with Krud Kutter or vinegar water.

Hi Stella. I'm Cindy. I recently discovered a new paint on the market. It's called Beyond Paint. No sanding and no sealing required. It is more expensive though. Good luck Stella.

  • Hi Stella - Not sure what kind of furniture you are talking about. We found these vintage Adirondack chairs that were from the 1930's, and restored them into gorgeous pieces of outdoor furniture. You can see the transformation here (and they have even been featured by Hometalk!). Hope this helps with some inspiration. Hugs, Holly

It's super easy to paint furniture with no preparation. But, your furniture won't last long before it gets ruined. Is it worth going through the work to paint furniture if it's not going to last?

All the prep that is needed is to was off any dirt and grime, then lightly sand it with 220 grit to give the paint something to stick to (especially if your furniture is shiny or super smooth). Then you can wipe off the dust and start painting with chalk paint. If you paint with a light color, you need to block the wood tannins from bleeding through (creating discoloration in your paint). Shellac or BIN Shellac based primer are two really good option to block bleed through.

After painting with chalk paint you'll need to seal the paint. I prefer to use Varathane Poly as it's super durable and easy to apply.
