I have a section in the front of my house where the rain runs off the awning. The sections are always moist and a breeding ground for mosquitoes Need ideas on what can be used to absorb the moisture and dry the area.

add gutter system, trenches or french drains to direct runoff away, buy mosquito dunks to add to soil/wet area to kill mosquitos, buy wetland type plants to grow in area to absorb water which will invite frogs, toads & birds that will eat mosquitos

Gutters with a drain spout that diverts the water away from the house should help. Dig a ditch and fill with gravel and adjust drain spout so the water drains into that. That will keep water from standing and standing water is what is causing most of the mosquito problem.

After we had a dry season one year we got a huge container and placed it under the down spout of our gutter and the next year we had a monsoon. Since we didn't need the water the next several years we put a gallon of Clorox in the water. If you can figure a way to place something where you have the dampness and soak it with Clorox then that should take care of your problem.

The cheapest way would be to re-grade the ground doesn’t hold the water.
