You can try adding either a cup of vinegar or baking soda to the wash.
Add a cup or two of vinegar in the wash and use vinegar in the rinse cup instead of fabric softener. Felted wool dryer balls in the dryer.
Listerene mouth wash in place of your softener...amazing!
