Dingy Gray? Freshen it up with a brighter fresher color! If you like gray, choose a different shade, paint baseboards white, if you have crown molding that should be white also that will make any color really pop and give it a clean look. You can make a fake crown molding with paint and narrow wood (or plastic) edging. Bring in a large mirror , or make one using several inexpensive small mirrors all the same, or mix up shapes and styles, just paint frames the same color. Then place close together in an interesting pattern. Go to thrift stores,Good Will...and keep your eyes open for great pieces, make spray paint handy,!

Paint is the cheapest way to upgrade a space or room. Also you could add a mirror on the wall. I get inexpensive mirrors and frame or decorate them myself to save money. You could add a cute welcome sign or wreath at or near the front door, inside or outside, small space or throw rugs add decor as do plants on a stand, a place for guests to hang hats and sweaters near the front entrance also says "welcome" to people stopping by, decorate a window in new material or tie backs, and you might place a pretty wooden chair for people to sit down to take off boots etc. Just some thoughts to consider and add to your decor as time and budget allow.

Painting a lighter color would probably be the cheapest thing to do. You can find used small tables and decorative chairs at most thrift stores. Maybe a small table, or chair.
