Just a few tips. They like humidity, bright diffused light and very small pots! Many varieties have roots that prefer to be outside of the pot. They need very little water. A book will help...I went to the library when mine stopped blooming. I was amazed at how their care differs from most other house plants. This is all new to me too!
my friend only uses 3 ice cubes to water hers
Orchids like humidity and sunshine. My grandmother had great success with hers in the window sill. When the soil felt dry she watered them. She grew them in the kitchen where she often had something cooking or boiling so there was a lot of humidity too. I have been to the famous orchid green houses in Pennysylvania and they had lots of sunlight and lots of humidity. Buy a fertilizer made for orchids and follow the instructions and good luck! they are beautiful!
