How do I remove outdoor grass carpet glued to concrete?

Brute force after scoring it with a utility knife. Get a linoleum scraper (it looks like a hoe that’s been straightened out or like a thick putty knife attached to a broom handle) and start jamming it under the edge of the carpet.

I’d try pulling on it, once I got enough to hold onto.

The only chemicals I can think of that will eat the glue, will probably melt the carpet and that’s a toxic mess.

The remaining glue residue can be belt sanded off with 40 grit.

We had glued down carpet that looked like felt. It was put in around 1973. Called indoor-outdoor carpet. It was in the kitchen. The only place we could get hold of it was in front of the stove. Naturally, that area was soaked with grease. Had to use ViseGrips to pull on it. Was able to pull it up in pieces but it left a black residue where the glue was. Took mineral spirits to clean it all off the sheet vinyl underneath. LOTS OF VENTILATION!!

Also had to remove sheet vinyl from the MBR. Tried several solvents trying to clean the subfloor. Gave up and just cleaned the debris up. Turned out the glue was water soluble and came right up! Lesson is, try the simplest thing first! LOL

Thanks for the info. Have vinyl in bathroom to get up, as well as kitchen. Hope water helps. Will give these a try.
