A good soaking or two each week won't hurt, but only during extended periods with no rain. As long as rainfall is normal you shouldn't have to worry about anything. If the foliage is wilted and droopy this can be a sign that the tree is too dry, it can also be a sign of over watering. The easy way to know is to water the plant thoroughly and if the leaves perk up within an hour or two the problem is definitely lack of water.
