Can I paint over glossy ceramic tile in my bathroom shower, will it hold up and how do I prepare it.

Yes, there’s specialty coatings & their required primers for this.
If you do all the prep work and application, by the manufacturer’s requirements, it holds up well. Just don’t take a pocket knife to it, lol.
I would go to a full-line pro paint store, not a DIY Bigbox store and have them help you with product selection (VOC’s) and color tinting.
These products may be high VOC and you’ll either have to wear a respirator ($35-60) or wait until late spring when you can open up the house and run fans, both.
There are paints available. I have never tried it, but see it explained on this site - probably You Tube videos too. The tile needs to be cleaned first and scuffed with course sandpaper to get proper bonding.
