How can I cover the cat-scratched arms of my sofa?

My old cat decided to use the arms of our new couch as scratching posts and totally ruined them. What can I do to cover the ruined fabric? It Hass to be something simple. Thanks for any suggestions.

Perhaps you can get fabric that will look nice with the couch and your living room dƩcor and cover both arms with it so they match. If you have other matching furniture, perhaps use some fabric on them, too, so that it looks on purpose. I would suggest attaching one of those scratching mats you can hang on doorknobs and your cat can use that to scratch instead of the fabric. You can stitch the fabric easily to the arms, just turn under the raw edges and stich away with matching thread.

Thank you. I will give that a try. I have now placed the scratching post in front of the arm and he uses that but I have to fix the couch because it looks terrible.

You could also buy some thread used for needle point, find the same color and sew/weave it through the damaged part until you get it fixed.
