How do I whiten the plastic on a refrigerator?

My plastic where the ice comes out on outside of my GE refrigerator has yellow streaks where the water has turned it yellow and I've tried everything to remove them, does anyone have any suggestions as to what would work?

Hi, Virginia: Some white plastic changes with age! Perhaps this part can be replaced? I know you would like for it to look better.

Sun and heat can discolor white plastic. You can try gently rubbing with a paste of water and baking soda, followed by rubbing very lightly with a magic eraser.

I have experienced the same problem and tried everything I could think of. Finally gave up and cleaned it as best I could and painted over it with appliance paint. I have folded up a paper towel and stuffed it up and under the chute and it catches the drip. If we use the ice maker very often the paper towel will become very wet and have to be changed often but I can get it up and under the chute so that it is not very noticeable. I hope someone else has a definitive answer for a cleaning method/product.

Sometimes, water has rust in it. You might try Wink that you can purchase in many big box stores to try on it!
