What can I use to keep Deer away from my tulips until they bloom?

Hi Carol. I'm Cindy. I live very close to woods and the DuPage River. So we see a lot of wild life in our yard. The only thing that I have used that actually works is shredded Irish Spring soap. You can shred the bars on a box grater or even in a food processor. Every Spring I buy the economy pack of Irish Spring. I shred all the bars at one time and keep it stored in a five-gallon bucket w/ lid in my shed. First time I sprinkle a lot of it around my flower bed and vegetable garden. I spread a small amount of soap after rain storms. I still see nibbles out of my tomatoes and strawberries now and then, but nothing like it used to be. Good luck Carol.

Use a vegetable peeler on the bar of Irish Spring soap and scatter shavings around plants and bushes. There's a product called Bobbex that works really well if you have something you want to protect though!

I read this from Gma Kirk: A farmer gave me a gross recipe for repellent...but it works. cup or two of urine, tablespoons of crushed garlic, and cayenne pepper, two eggs in a gallon jug, shake well, fill rest of the way with water. Cap and let age a week. Then you drizzle small stream around the perimeter of whatever you want to keep them from eating. Works on rabbits, too

The only real deterrent for deer is a high fence and dogs inside the fence. My uncle put dog wire around his flowers, bushes and new trees to keep them away
