How can I fill in space between my plants?

I have put down plastic and mulch in between my plants but the sycamore trees (I have three) drop leaves. branches and bark all year long and its too time consuming to hand pick all the debris off the mulch. Any suggestions?

Planted a ground cover called ajuga available at Lowes (seasonally). Ajuga paints the ground a pretty fabulous purple and it shows off everything it surrounds like peonies, roses, lilies, boxwood shrubs etc. Ajuga grows agressively with just a few plants though be sure the area doesn't include grass because it's a challenge to keep ajuga from creeping into grasses. It definately needs borders. Ajuga hangs out beautiful in planters.

I so love ajuga because it doesn't require frequent watering or full sun. It not picky and tolerates walking on and even mowers or bicycles. Good luck!

  • Use a river rock or rock mulch so you can easily sweep or use a blower to remove at debris.

    Hi,

Use a Rake or Garden vac. or plant spreading shade loving plants to cover in between..
