Hello Nayomi, I have been reading up on how to redo my living room. I have learned a few things from reading; 1) don't have your couch face the dining room 2) place your couch a few inches or more away from the wall (it gives a cozier feel) 3) have the couch face a focal point ( tv, fireplace, bookshelf, or window etc)

A nice rug under the couch front legs and coffee table would look nice with another chair or 2. Ditch the plastic chairs, add some wall decor! Have fun!

You have a lovely clean looking white backdrop with lots of potential to work with here. But at the present time, it looks cold, sterile, and bland.

The room needs focal points, and the overall it needs color, texture and fabric, to make it more inviting and warmer looking.

I would start by purchasing an area rug for under the dining set, and another one for the sitting/couch area. Make sure you get rugs that are large enough. A common diy mistake that I have seen is that folks have area rugs that are too small. Next I would put some textured colorful designed wall hangings or textured 3D wall art on the walls. Once again, go it is better to go with fewer numbers and have them Large, rather than many small items. Go for quality, not quantity.

I would also try moving the couch away from where it seems to be pasted against the wall, so that it faces the window, with the back facing where the plastic chairs are now. Then try a rectangular sofa table behind the couch, leaving space between the table and the wall as an isle way for walking. As the room has few walls, arranging the furniture to simulate walls will define individual zones, and will make the room more interesting.

I think some color would help. Even if it's just a few red pillows. Some pictures on the walls instead of leaning against it on the floor. It's a little to white and sterile for my taste, but everyone has different tastes.
