When's the best time to paint the outside of the house?

I like to paint the exterior in the spring, before too many things have come up in the landscaping around the house. Plus, it give you more time to get it done before the winter is knocking at the door again. (I've had some fall outside painting projects get put off until the following year because it turned into a rainy fall and couldn't get it done before winter)
