Not sure what type of paint or stain to use. Might be time consuming but I think the outcome will be great

If you opt to paint, we'd suggest Fusion mineral paint. Very tough and will resist chipping.

Sue,. Home Depot has many kits for stain projects. Go there and get some samples, and see what you like. Aloha!

    Hey Sue!

Paint and stain are two completely different things, and will give you a completely different look. Are you wanting to keep them wood grain or would you rather have a painted finish. Paint will be a lot less time consuming than stain. If you would like to paint them, here is a great tutorial on how to paint furniture. https://www.arayofsunlight.com/2018/11/how-to-paint-furniture.html

Because your table and chairs are oak, even after you paint them, you'll see the wood grain of the oak, unless you fill in the grain before you paint. Hope this helps!

  • Hi Sue! I can tell you how to paint your furniture with Dixie Belle Chalk Mineral Paint :)

It is super easy to paint with Dixie Belle.

Step one: Clean with White Lightning

Step two: If you're concerned with bleed through apply two coats of BOSS

Step three: Paint one to two coats of Dixie Belle Chalk Mineral Paint

Step four (optional): Use any of our clear coats or waxes for extra protection or a different style finish

If you'd prefer staining, simply skip step two and replace step three with applying one of our easy peasy stains! We offer an oil-based stain (No Pain Gel Stain) and a water-based stain (VooDoo Gel Stain) in a variety of colors.

No sanding required for either method!
