    Hi ! First pick out a basket , then buy some floral foam , get enough to fill , or almost fill the bottom of the basket . Next pick out flowers and some extra greenery . Since you are using this for a front porch , you might want to pick up a package or two of decorative rock from the dollar store , this is to place in the bottom of the basket to keep it from blowing over. First put the rock in the basket , just a light layer . Then place in the floral foam. Now place the flowers, start with the larger ones , put those in the center , then arrange the other flowers around it , mixing the different types all around. Next fill in the spaces with the greenery , even letting some spill over the edge of the basket .

    due to weight and temporary life of 'real' flowers, I'd go with the FauxFlowers from any $ store or hobby center;

    gather 3 'Easter' style baskets, in different sizes, but compatible colors; fit with floral foam ( you poke the stems of the flowers/greener into the foam -- I like it better than Styrofoam -- holds better )-- and Floral Foam is grey or green -- not white.

    Select flowers for the 'season' Tulips, Daffodils, etc; not Daisy or Sunflowers; and plenty of soft, trailing greens;

    Back fill the baskets with net ribbon of a color that works with the flowers and the baskets;

    hang each basket from the handles, tied/wired together, from a central hook on your door.

    Mary,

    I am not sure my explanation will be clear, but this is what I would try. Then hook it onto a regular over-the-door wreath hanger...one like you would use for your Christmas wreath.

    Think of a triangle fabricated to attach ribbon/jute to the basket and then hang on the door.

    ...The back side rim of the basket would be bottom of the triangle.

    ...Go about half way between the center of the back of the basket to the outside edge and attach (weave into the basket) your desired choice of material (jute or ribbon).

    ...Then repeat for the other side.

    ...Tie the attached material together at the top. (Do not tie this too tightly in case you have to adjust length for balance. )

    ...You may have to add a third length of material in the middle of the back for balance...depending on how heavy your flowers are.

    Once you get it balanced, take it down an put in flowers. You can even add a bow or plant at the top where the material is attached to the hanger, or use taller flowers to hide the material. You can actually wrap the material around the stem (upright portion) of the hanger to make sure the basket fits snugly to the door.

    I hope this works!

  • I found an old bicycle basket, flat on the back, (like on a girls bike) at a garage sale. Filled with floral foam and used silk flowers stuck into the floral foam. Used a wreath hanger. Tied the basket to the wreath hanger with a pretty ribbon and made a bow with streamers.

    There are baskets that would be great for hanging on the door. Then you could use fake flowers from craft stores to add colors and textures. You could use greenery too!
