How do I distress white wash wall?

The easiest and most professional method would be to white wash or German wash the wall, then use kitchen mesh fabric or scrubbers to distress the edges or sections of the wall to let the undercoating come through. After cleaning the mess, choose a sealer so your work will last several years. If you install a mantle or shelving, add decorations that emphasize the greenish brown color you like. The chippier the wall looks, the more professionally artistic it will look, but protect animals and babies!
