I cannot not remember the name of the crystal like stuff I bought at Lowes Hardware a few years ago. This stuff hold lots of water. You can mix it in with your dirt. I just googled this. You need to ask for water crystals and/or water jelly crystals. Do a little more research to find out which one holds the most water.

For potted plants, my Grandma used to set her potted plants in plastic dish basins or tubs and fill the tub with water. This also kept our herb tower well watered when we were gone 2 weeks. Hope this helps Anna

Run a soaker hose through your garden or a sprinkler. Get a garden timer that attaches to your water faucet and the hose. Set the timer for when you want to water and for how long. They work great.

If you are doing more than one area, you can buy "Y" shaped splitters that attach from one hose to two.
