Hi Shari, we have ongoing problems with groundhogs too. We use a live trap; it only catches 1 at a time. But we have been able to reduce their numbers a LOT. We set it every day.

They must have access to the underside of your shed to be living there. I would brick or rock it shut. We put cement blocks under the edge all the way around to keep out all varmints like skunks, rabbits, snakes, and so forth. Hope this helps you too Shari.

Spray heavily with Liquid Fence concentrate (mix of garlic and putrescent eggs), and Dawn liquid dish soap mixed with water. Apply at least weekly x 1 month, then bi weekly, until they move out. Spray surrounding area, as well. Their burrows can be very long, and holes are dangerous for animals and humans.

Castor bean plants seem to deter them, but would also advise installing heavy duty hardware cloth with a staple gun to framing. Placing some large heavy rocks against wire cloth should also help.

If you have tall grass, wood piles, brush, or stones/bricks, it provides them with hiding places. Remove these items and keep grass cut down.

They dig under walls, live traps with cantaloupe attract them. Catch as many a day as you have traps. Take to a wooded area a few miles away and set free.
