Hello Muji. For cleaning your kitchen cabinets, make a bucket of warm water and add a quarter-cup of vinegar and a couple squirts of Dawn dish soap. Dawn is excellent for removing grease and grime. Once you have cleaned the cabinets, go back and use Murphy's Oil Soap according to the directions on the bottle. The soap will get any dirt left behind and the oil will condition the wood. Once complete, your kitchen cabinets will be nice and clean.

Now, about the grout, I use a product called Oxi Clean Max Force. Do a test sample first. After that, use an old toothbrush to scrub it into the grout lines. Let it set 15 or 20 minutes and then come back and wipe it all up with a clean damp cloth.

    Good luck Muji.

  • You would need to remove all the old grease and grime first. I have used a steamer in the past to soften the grease build up so it wipes off easily.

Thanks, but that is my original problem, the build up of grease without disturbing the integrity of the wood.

To remove the greasy build up: If a mix of Dawn ( great on tackling grease! ), white vinegar and warm water doesn't cut thru the grease you can try Wheel and tire cleaner from the auto dept.. It comes in a spray bottle. Definitely spray an inconspicuous area of the wood to test it out first! Maybe on an inside corner. Give it a couple minutes to sit then you should be able to scrape off the greasy gunk with a plastic paint scraper. Follow with a good cleaning of the water, vinegar and Dawn mixture and dry the cabinets thoroughly. Refinish them however you like :)

If your floor grout seems to be collecting alot of dirt & dust it may be that it's worn and creating a lil gully for the dirt & dust to land in. Clean the grout lines with a little Comet & water & scrub it well with an old tooth brush. If you can now see an indentation, you may need to remove the old grout and apply new. Here's a how - to. Good luck!
