How to make ceiling disappear with color?

I need a color expert. I want to paint the sheathing of my porch roof to make it seem to disappear. Should I use a light color or a dark color - like they do in restaurants?
I do black ceilings all the time . Looks great. Add some recessed lights, awesome.
If you match your siding, it will blend into the walls. If not, black would be the other option I would consider.
I would try painting it dark and staining the beams
I would go with a pale sky blue like they do in the south. Can discourage pests (and most birds from nesting) as they think it is blue sky and is an "unprotected" area to them.
There's a color called "haint blue" used in the south. It's supposed to protect your house and its occupants from "haints" (ghosts) and evil in general. It's really pretty, and some people say it discourages flies as well.
A nice dark brown will do the trick. Get exterior paint. Simplest and faster way to do this project.
I would go dark. Navy blue, black or dark brown would work.
