How do I add curb appeal?

Iur bushes are overgrown. We want to pull it all out & start over. The bushes we have stay red I almost all year but they are very prickly I really like color though. lSuggestions? Pennysylvania do we have cold winters & hot summers. ?

You have barberry bushes. Pull them out! They are a host plant to ticks, so you don't want them around your house. Replace them with low growing evergreens, such as mungo pine, or other bushes that can be trimmed or stay smaller. Visit a local nursery and ask questions about what you need.
