How to avoid purple leaves on tomato plants?
This past year I started having purple leaves on my tomato plants. I have been growing tomatoes for over 20 years and this was a first. I tried finding an answer to this issue, but I could not. Some said it was the fertilizer while others said it must be diseased plants. Can anyone give me a clue as to what caused this condition.

Why are some tomato plants I have have white spots on the leaves ?
Others have dead leaves . I'm still getting tomatoes off them. But the plants look bad
Planting tomatoes in cold soil may cause the leaves to turn purple from a lack of potassium because tomatoes cannot absorb potassium if the soil is too cold. The leaves will usually green up as the soil warms, but the plants may be stunted for the entire growing season and produce few or no fruit.

It sounds like they need more phosphorus. Try adding bone meal.
Manure them, rather than starve them with a water only diet. 32 ounce water 8 ounce manure.
