How do you drywall a ceiling with I-joists 24 in on center?
I have been doing some reading and it looks like this new "lightweight" drywall is rated up to 24 inches O.C. I like the idea of handling the lighter drywall because I will be doing the work myself, but I also want to do the best job possible. I have already planned on renting a drywall lift, so is 5/8 less likely to sag, do they make a "lightweight" 5/8 drywall, should I put lath strips 16 inches O.C. and then use the 1/2 inch?

I would probably add strips. We found some super light weight drywall that is used in mobile homes so depending on your area, maybe you can as well. You might want to check into purchasing a lift from Harbor Freight for around $200. That would take the pressure off the job's urgency. You could probably sell it easily after you are done and be out less money than renting one.
Go with the strips 16" OC and go with the 1/2" drywall.
1/2” drywall is for 16” oc. So its 5/8” or it sags. If you have the height get some “hat track” from a local supplier. The box stores can order it. Put that up across the bottom of joist/truss on 16” or 12” centers and use the light weight drywall. Get the fine thread screws. The metal barrier gives you the added benefit of a fire break between the drywall and wood. Personally, I like the 12” centers. You can level up the ceiling too. Makes a flat beautiful job.
