Hi Stacy,
I have never dry brushed a wall. I have dry brushed other items though. When I dry brush I dip just the ends of the brush in paint lightly blot it on news paper then gently go back and forth with the brush. I start out with a light coverage then build it up until I like it. Here are some ideas I found on Hometalk.
I have done much the same as Tiffany, but instead of newsprint I use kitchen roll paper. I think newsprint the ink makes the paint dirty.
I like to dry brush with a chip brush, if you are doing a wall, get a large one. Dip it into the smallest amount of paint, and have a rag handy to get any excess off the brush. Using cross hatch motions, apply the paint to the wall to get the desired look.
Large Chip brush (the 4" thicker ones work best) and even an older one where the bristles are a little worn down so they are stiffer. Load a very small amount of paint onto the bristles and then wipe off just about most of the paint (seems crazy but that's how you create a dry brush). Then you just lightly brush against the surface and it will highlight the outer most texture, creating even more depth to the surface.
