So, when we needed a step stool AND place to sit for the shop, we thought, why not combine the two? So, with some research and a few design tools, Justin created this awesome stepladder/stool that can be built with scrap lumber for next to nothing!

Be sure to CHECK OUT our video tutorial where we offer tips and tricks to speed up the process and make your build go smoothly!

The beauty of this project is that we were able to use scrap lumber and it cost zero $ to make. Can't beat that price. So, round up some pieces of lumber and cut them according to the free printable building plans on Remodelaholic.com.

Once you've cut the legs and step pieces, assemble each step using construction screws.

With the steps assembled, you can now build the top of the stool.

We found it easiest to assemble the stepladder/stool by turning the steps on their sides and attaching the legs with screws.

We also added an extra 2x4 to the back for support and also attached this with construction screws.

Once the stool was finished, we were able to use it for a stepladder and a stool! Mission accomplished. If you are looking for a more finished look, you could fill holes, sand and paint or stain the piece.
