When you go to the paint department of your local store, tell them to point out the paint formulated for concrete. The current state and condition of your concrete will dictate all the prep work you need to do. It will need to be 100% dry and clean from prep before you paint.

Keep in mind what will be on the concrete. Table, chairs that move, people walking, dogs, running, etc. We painted our back porch and steps and are no happy at all with the results after a few years. I do have a 150 pound great dane, but after only a month or so, we were seeing scratches and now it's also peeling. We did prep and paint according to the instructions. Do you self a favor and look into cement stain so you don't end up with ugly too!
