Hi I'm Liz from SimpleDecoratingTips.com a DIY & decorating blog.

My son and daughter in law bought a vintage bungalow tucked in a cute old neighborhood in Minneapolis for their 1st home to start their memories of a married couple in. That was a few years ago, they have precious memories of their first home, but now that their family has grown to 3, they decided to sell their small home and move to a little more spacious setting. Here is how and why they created the perfect pot rack in this small kitchen!Being on a fairly tight budget for renovations in this first house, they wanted to work with what they had in the kitchen. And this is what they had on one wall with a narrow walkway that leads to the backyard.

These super shallow glass fronted cabinets that look more like they belong in a Dr.'s office than a kitchen.

So my son and his wife took the doors off, repainted the frames, added beadboard to the back of them...

Prime then paint the beadboard before it's installed if you can to save on the mess! Then, after measuring their set of pots and pans, started screwing in hooks to the back wall of beadboard. Here are some unique hooks that could be used here!

They chose simple hooks, like these, which work great too!

To hold the lids, which was very important as this small kitchen had limited storage space, they shopped the plumbing aisle at Home Depot and this is what they came up with:

My son found standard copper plumbing fittings and distressed them himself. He used a special solution I had for years on my paint room shelves, but I think lightly sanding them and rubbing on white vinegar does the trick as well! Here is the bracket for the 1/2" pipe... and here is the 1/2" pipe he used. He soaked the copper fittings and pipe in a solution that darkened it.Their pans fit on perfectly, with fun accents of red.

All ready to fill with their pans!

The lids set in the slots created with the darkened copper pipes and the pans were securely hung on the hooks!Such a cute treatment for what was an eyesore. It now is added character, and very usable!
