Bleach, unless it's wool or silk.

    Soak in Oxy Clean

  • What is the fabric content? Bleach can yellow or gray fabric over time, plus it weakens the fabric fibers. Many like hydrogen peroxide. I use baking soda - a good soak overnight might work. Do not dry until stain is completely gone. Heat will set the stain.

Hi Pamela: Baking soda can be very effective at removing stains from fine linens caused by age. Because it is a natural cleaner, you can trust that your old linens will be whitened and brightened rather than damaged. Regular detergents can damage linens, so the method here is to wash with baking soda alone, not as an additive to detergent. If your linens have spots, pre-treat them by rubbing them with a paste made of baking soda and water. Good luck

Pamela,. Try washing in detergent and hydrogen peroxide. Aloha!

  • Oxiclean works well. Use very hot water. Sometimes, I even boil the water first.
