How to make this look better?

Had this fitted last week by a chap who reckoned he was good at his job.... ermmm well.. this is how he left my perspex in my shower! A piece cracked and badly put back (other smaller on other panels but can’t do anything 😢) and this awful cutting around.. I’ve got a few ideas of my own but any others greatly appreciated

not sure what this is ... but if you paid him for the work, you had a reasonable expectation that he could do the work properly. Contact his employer and discuss the situation; if he's self - employed you may have to take him to court.

Yes! Contact him to correct his work. If that crack is in the wall, it'll leak creating more expensive problems when water gets in.

Not satisfying service...you must contact to fix it.

Sorry should have explained better, the Perspex is laid over tiles. I paid chap half the money and he threatened me with legal action, he’s self employed and has no insurance! Think I just want to see if there is a way of making it look better as I think it will be like getting blood from a stone. I don’t want him back here.

Maybe try some white chalking to fill in and smooth out. Spread a small amount

into the crack area also, to make it water proof.

If you don't want to deal with the guy and want it to look better well your best bet is to try and make it better yourself or have someone else help. I'm no expert by any means, I mean I DIY stuff here and there... But I've got questions... Did he seal the area around? It looks like he may have glued that part in and left the cracks around the area pretty much open. That's not good at all especially if it's in a shower for mold reasons as well as deterioration potential.

So on the very top of the area where the area is all cracked and the edges are all jagged I'd try to find a way to clean that up. Make a nice consistent line with either a small file (maybe even a metal fingernail file) because this is small fine work you don't want to go at it and chip it away anymore than it is already. So try and clean up the edges with maybe even a dremel multi sanding tool. Once you have nice edges around the whole area I'd clean away all the dust and let it sit for a minute to breathe. Get some white 100% silicone bathroom/shower caulk and fill those areas up nicely with the silicone caulking. The caulk should kind of blend in with the color of the tile, if not find a 100% silicone bathroom/shower caulk that does blend with your shower and use that color. That will take some time to dry. You will want to finesse the silicone caulking not cake it in there. So make it look nice like there really isn't any gaps. Let that dry for 24 hours.

Then after all that's done I'd try and hide it with a shower caddy or something so I didn't have to see the metal gaping piece on my shower wall. That guy was just a shotty worker for doing it like that.

Terrible job. He did not know what he was doing. I can see why you don't want him back. He probably wouldn't know how to correct it. That unit is made to be surface mounted not recessed. What I mean the hole cutout is smaller than the backplate on the unit and the unit is mounted on the surface. At this point you need to caulk the gaps to waterproof the walls. Then you can use some small square mosaic tiles and glue them around the backplate covering the gaps. This would give a little accent color and still look good.

Thankyou I did wonder about some smaller mosaic tiles. He has used clear silicone but you can’t see it in pic, I cringe and get upset every time I see it. Hopefully it will get sorted the weekend.
